Lake McDonald: Sacred Dancing Waters
The Kootenai knew.

These Native Americans, denizens of what is now Glacier
National Park's west side, aptly named this ten-mile long
wonder "Sacred Dancing Waters."

You needn't be a Native American or a prelate to nod
your head in agreement. Just dip your paddle into these
remarkably clear waters and power your craft from the
dock at Apgar as far as you wish: thirty minutes to Rocky
Point, or four hours to the historic Lake McDonald Lodge.

Be it short or long, your paddle will put you in touch with
the history and mystery that grabbed early settlers by
their britches.

Perhaps the most accessible Peace Park Paddle, Lake
McDonald gives the novice easy access to the caring,
competent
Glacier Park Boat Company staff who launch
you from the foot of the lake at Apgar into a memorable
vacation activity.
