Waterton Lakes: Where the Mountains Meet the Prairies
This bird's eye view looking
south toward the International
Boundary captures the
immense grandeur of the
Waterton Lakes.

Canada's Waterton Lakes are a triplet
played in rocky harmony.

"Upper" is a seven-mile wonder stretching
from the Waterton Townsite, across the
International Boundary, ending in Glacier
National Park's Goat Haunt region.

"Middle" sits in the shadow of the Prince of
Wales Hotel, the architectural landmark
"high on a windy hill."

"Lower," locally known as Knight's Lake (in
honor of an early superintendent of
Waterton Lakes National Park), is a gentle
transition to the Waterton River. It includes
a soul-calming side-trip to the Maskinonge,
a prime bird habitat that is home to marshy
grass, bridge swallows and a comforting
quiet.
